Join Professor Groat in his upstate, New York studio to learn how to paint an evocative still life of a pyramid composition of apples with branches and leaves. This two hour video teaches the beginning art student how to develop the initial composition through a simple undertone, and then suggest the characteristic forms, textures and colors of these delicious grouping of Red Delicious apples. Students are taught how to move warm and cool colors throughout the composition, and how to go about defining and softening edges and working with contrasting values to add volume and depth. Within this step-by-step video lesson are included many close up camera shots of Hall’s brushwork as he gradually paints the forms of the red apples and then adds the final stem and branch details with a small 000 brush.
